The Hitopadesha mentions this:
doṣaḥ ||
This means that ‘Success and prosperity seek out the industrious person
who is like a lion. Only cowards say, 'Whatever is written in fate will
happen.' Forget fate! Put forth your own heroic effort with all your
might. If you risk it, give it your all, and still don't succeed, where is
the fault in having tried?’
When you refuse to take risks, you might feel safe in the short term,
but what you do not realize is that you are choosing to stay exactly
where you are. True security doesn't come from avoiding the storm; it
comes from learning to navigate the waves. Stop letting the fear of failure
hold you hostage to mediocrity. Embrace the uncertainty, take the gamble
on yourself, and dive in.
The greatest risk of all is looking back and wondering what your life
could have been if you had just been brave enough to try.
