Luck Smiles on You

Sages and mystics did not treat the elusive Lady Luck as a mystical lightning bolt that strikes randomly.

Consider this Sanskrit Subhashita (well-known saying):

आस्ते भग आसीनस्य ऊर्ध्वं तिष्ठति तिष्ठतः । 

शेते निषद्यमानस्य चरति चरतो भगः ॥

Āste bhaga āsīnasya ūrdhvaṃ tiṣṭhati tiṣṭhataḥ | 

Śete niṣadyamānasya carati carato bhagaḥ ||

This means that: "Fortune of a person who sits idle, also sits idle. That of who stands, also stands. That of who sleeps, also sleeps, and fortune of a person who walks, also walks."

When we first read this verse, it simply looks like a call to action and a reminder to avoid being lazy. But that is not so. These verses do not describe destiny as a fixed destination. 

This Subhashita mentions that destiny behaves like a mirror. 

When you freeze, your potential freezes. 

When you sleep on your goals, your goals sleep too. 

When you move, your luck moves with you.

When you stay in one place, either doomscrolling or planning endlessly, you are isolated. This is the equivalent of freezing your potential. 

However, when you start moving around, like learning a new skill, or changing things, you expand your visibility. That is when you bump into unexpected people and new things seem to keep happening. 

This isn't magical. It is simply an obvious conclusion.

So you don't need a massive leap, you just need to start moving, because luck is not a gift, it is your co-passenger in life.
