Stop Waiting for Permission
We live in a world where everyone is obsessed with titles, permissions and external validation.
However, an ancient Sanskrit Subhashita gives a different take on authority.
नाभिषेको न संस्कारः सिंहस्य क्रियते वने ।
विक्रमार्जितसत्त्वस्य स्वयमेव मृगेन्द्रता ॥
Nābhiṣeko na saṃskāraḥ siṃhasya kriyate vane |
Vikramārjitasattvasya svayameva mṛgendratā ||
This means that ‘There is no official coronation ceremony held to declare the lion as the king of the jungle. He becomes king solely by his own attributes, strength, and heroic actions.’
The phrase used in the Subhashita is Vikramārjitasattvasya - this is the strength that is acquired through action and valour. This is the kind of strength that is forged in the fire of daily effort and proven capability.
So if you want to be recognised as an authority in your field, you cannot rely on a title or a business card. Real authority comes from proven capability.
This way, when your skill reaches a certain threshold, you don't need to ask for respect. Your presence and your work command it naturally.
The forest of your career and your creative life does not need coronation ceremonies.
So stop waiting for someone to validate your worth.
Step up, do the heavy lifting, build your strength and crown yourself through your actions.
